Kaleo Sermon Notes: RSVP Day 12, The Reality of Hell

[Mat 22:11-14 ESV] 11 "But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. 12 And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' 14 For many are called, but few are chosen."

We cannot read this passage and not be smacked in the face with the reality that there is a place of eternal torment. The very words of Jesus prove that hell is real. Think about those words, "eternal torment" for a moment (Revelation 20:10). His message is designed to do everything possible to keep people from going to this horrible destiny. In fact, it is Jesus who gives us just about everything we know biblically about the reality of hell. His message was intense simply because He did not want anyone to go to this place forever (1 Timothy 2:3-5, 2 Peter 3:9).

Many are called, but few are chosen. The chosen are the ones who respond in faith to the message of the gospel, trusting Christ Jesus to save them. His garments are what we must have on to escape the torment of hell. This message is worth sharing, even if we are ridiculed for it. Jesus certainly was.

*Life Point* Hell is a  biblical reality, no matter what the world says.
