Bible Study Notes in Isaiah- Chapter 46

Isaiah 46

-The contrast between Babylon’s false idols and the One-True God is postulated in this powerful chapter of Scripture. Graven images are just burdensome and have no value in comparison to the Maker of the Universe. God is the only Rescuer. He is always the same (immutable). He will carry His people, bear them, and deliver them. There is no one like the LORD. The idols cannot answer, and they certainly cannot deliver. Be assured and remember that God is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). He declares the end from the beginning (omniscient), and His purpose will be established without anyone to stand in the way of its completion, all in God’s good pleasure. His call is irrevocable, even from a far country (reference to Cyrus again). The stubborn-minded who are far from righteousness would do well to listen because the LORD is bringing His righteousness, and it is not far off. His salvation will not delay coming to Zion (the coming of Messiah Jesus), which will make Israel His glory (Isaiah 46:1-13). *Application* Let nothing stand in the way of your relationship with the LORD. He is great and His wisdom is what we need for successful life. Don’t trust in anything else. God, in three persons (the Trinity), is the end all, be all.
