Kaleo Sermon Notes: Colossians 1:15-17

[Colossians 1:15-17 ESV] 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Jesus is the visible, tangible, physical manifestation of God on this earth. This is what incarnation means. He came out of eternity into our natural realm just over 2,000 years ago, lived among us taking on limitations and empting Himself of certain Divine qualities while still maintaining His Deity (Philippians 2:5-8). The present active verb shows us that He is the great "I AM" as the preeminent (above all) One in all the universe.

Not only this, but we see Jesus as the Creator of everything. In other words, He is truly God in every sense. He has all dominion, authority, and control over His creation. All has been created through His power and for His glory.

Finally, Jesus, the God-man, holds all things together. He is the sustainer. Think about what we now know about the splitting of the atom and the catastrophic-explosive consequences this breaking apart causes. God's perfect order is maintained by His strength here on the earth and in the universe. Thank Jesus for His ability to keep everything together.

*Life Point* Jesus, You are God. Keep my life together with Your strength and take complete control of me. I give you my life because I can trust in You.
