Bible Study Notes in Isaiah- Chapter 18

Isaiah 18

-A message from the LORD is given to the land that lies beyond the rivers of Cush (Ethiopia). This is the repeated description of these people, “a people tall and smooth, a people feared far and wide, a powerful and oppressive nation, whose land the rivers divide (Isaiah 18:2, 7). The LORD will look from His dwelling place quietly like dazzling heat in the sunshine and a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest. Before the harvest He will cut off their sprigs with pruning knives to remove and cut away their spreading branches. Mountain birds of prey and the beasts of the earth will spend their summer feeding time and harvest time on these people as they are left slaughtered. At that time, a gift of homage will be brought to the LORD of host in Mount Zion. Ethiopia will side with God’s people (Isaiah 18:7). *Application* God calls out to you in the same way when you’ve been ravaged by the enemy. Will you bring Him His due honor, respect, and glory in your time of need. God allows suffering to draw you to His grace and salvation.

Verse to Memorize: Isaiah 18:7
