Bible Study Notes in Isaiah- Chapter 66

Isaiah 66

-The final chapter in this amazing book first reflects on the fact that Heaven is the LORD’s throne and the earth is His footstool. We could never build something for Him as far as a house or resting place. In other words, He doesn’t need us, we need Him. His Hand is the maker of all these things, but He will look to the one who is humble and contrite of spirit, and trembles at His Word (Isaiah 66:1-2). The theme of the chapter revolves around the reward of the faithful righteous and the judgment of the ones who want to go their own ways delighting in abominations. The joy of Jerusalem’s future glory is expounded and given the analogy of a mother who takes intimate care of her children giving peace and comfort. “The Hand of the LORD will be made known to His servants” and their bones will flourish like new grass, but God will be indignant toward His enemies (Isaiah 66:14). His day, meaning His judgment day, is coming in fire like the whirlwind with His rebuke and slaying of all evil. The wicked will perish and come to an end all together. Then all the nations will come and see the glory of the LORD and there will be an enduring new heavens and earth where His majesty will reign forever and ever with the righteous. *Application* Choose you this day whom you will serve. Will you go His way or you own? God wants to reward those who choose Him. Refuse His call, and He will bring upon you what you dread the most (Isaiah 66:4). The choice of submitting to Him should be simple, a no brainer, but it does take faith. Will you believe? Please do, I want to spend eternity with you my friend in the presence of our Savior. His Word endures forever (1 Peter 1:25).

Verse to Memorize: Isaiah 66:2
