Bible Study Notes in Psalms- Chapter 99

Psalm 99

-Theme: God’s love of justice and equity in His sovereignty over the earth. The LORD is holy and praiseworthy, lift up His awesome Name.

-Historical Insight: This is an anonymous Psalm similar to other praises in this book.

-*Application* The very thought of God should make us tremble and remember that He alone is exalted and honored above even the cherubim (the highest class of angels). He is holy, or set apart/sacred, in His perfection and righteousness. His Name is awesome and living. This King’s strength is in the fact that He loves justice and equity. We should respectfully worship at His footstool as the saints of old did (Moses, Aaron, and Samuel to name just a few). Just like they called and received an answer, so too can we. Don’t be afraid to call upon this powerful Force that can change circumstances in an instant. He will speak in a variety of ways, so listen carefully and attentively. Keep His testimonies remembering that He forgives iniquity, yet is an avenger of every evil deed. Exalt and honor Him in the highest!

Verse to Memorize: Psalm 99:9
