Hosea Bible Study Notes Chapter 14

7/12/2012

Hosea 14

-God pleads one last time in the book for Israel’s return to Him. He desires to heal their apostasy (falling away) and iniquity if they would just come back and repent of their wrong doing. Assyria will not save them. In fact they will be their destroyer, and God tries one last time through Hosea to warn them of the impending doom. Their idols cannot save them. The works of their hands give no deliverance when calamity strikes. Only in the LORD can the orphan find mercy (Hosea 14:3). God offers free love and a turning of His anger (Hosea 14:4). He desires to bless and bring back like He had illustrated through the actions of Hosea taking back Gomer earlier in the book (Hosea 3:1-5). “Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous will walk in them, but transgressors will stumble in them (Hosea 14:9).” *Application* There is a way that seems right unto man, but in the end it leads to death (Proverbs 14:12; 16:25). The wise man will listen to what the LORD requires and do it. This is the faith walk with Him by receiving His Son Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and receiving His Holy Spirit who will never leave you or forsake you. The Spirit is the One who gives you the power to stay steadfast and true to your Deliverer and remain in Him because He remains in you (John 15:4). The Spirit is the One who walks beside us and convicts us of sin. He leads us away from temptation and delivers us from evil (Matthew 6:13). He gives us gifts and works in us to bear good fruit fulfilling God’s good pleasure and work (John 15:5, Philippians 2:13).

Verse to Memorize: Hosea 14:9
