Kaleo Sermon Notes from Aug. 24, Day 2, Knowing Christ

[Matthew 22:14 ESV] 14 "For many are called, but few are chosen."

Jesus directly confronts where we stand with Him in this comment at the end of the parable. To be called (kletos) means to be "invited." To be chosen (eklektos) means to be "picked" or "elected." While there is a general calling for every person ever born on this earth to be saved by the given grace of God through Jesus Christ, His Son and Savior, there is an effectual-specific choosing that the Father makes based upon His omniscience (the all-knowing aspect of God) and our own response to His invitation. Where do you stand? Have you answered "yes" in your spirit to the Lord's invitation to become a part of the family in His Kingdom?

To be a family member, there must be relationship. God's offer to you is that you simply believe, have faith, trust in what He did for you on the cross to atone for your sins, along with His burial and His bodily resurrection from the grave. If you have received this gift on the basis of faith, you are a born-again, Spirit-filled saint who has a new identity (John 3:3-17, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 4:4-5, 1 Corinthians 12:13, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 1 Peter 1:3). This is how you can "know" Him!

*Life Point* Make the choice today, be a chosen follower of Jesus Christ. He wants to pick you!
