Revelation Bible Study Notes- Chapter 21

Chapter 21

-John gets a unique glimpse into the future as he is shown the new heaven and new earth. The first heaven and earth had now passed away, and the sea was no more. He saw the new Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven from God as a prepared and adorned bride of her Husband. God was now dwelling with man and they are His people. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, death will be no more, neither will there be mourning, crying, or pain for the former things have passed away totally. Jesus speaks saying, “Behold, I am making all things new…write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true…It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.” He also mentions that He will give the spring of the water of life (Living water, Jeremiah 2:13; 17:13, John 4:10-14; 7:38) without payment (It’s free!). He gives this heritage to the one who conquers through His Name as sons. However, for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, the murders, the sexually immoral, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars, there portion shall be in the lake of fire and sulfur that burns forever as the second death (Revelation 21:1-8).

-John is carried away in the Spirit by one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls of the last seven plagues to see the Bride, the wife of the Lamb and her new home in the new Jerusalem that came down out of Heaven, having the glory of God with great radiance and bedazzling rare jewels. The section describes this city in wondrous detail to our imaginations and senses. What a wonderful world it will be (Revelation 21:9-26)! *Application* The incredible future is only for those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 21:27). This comes by faith, and faith comes by hearing the Word of God, or expression (object) of Christ (Romans 10:17). There is only one way into God’s eternal Kingdom and that is through His Son (John 14:6). The Lord is a faithful rewarder of those who diligently seek Him and His righteousness (Hebrews 11:6, Romans 3:21-27). Claim your inheritance today by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. He will glorify you one day (Romans 8:29-30). Heaven and the new Jerusalem await!

Verse to Memorize: Revelation 21:5
