Bible Study Notes in Psalms- Chapter 119:113-128: Samekh and Ayin

Psalm 119 (Samekh and Ayin)- Verses 113-128

-*Samekh Application* Here we see the contrast between the righteous and the wicked. The righteous are single-minded, loving the law, commandments, hope, safety, patience, statutes, truth, testimonies, steadfastness, reverence, and judgments of the LORD. On the other hand, those who are unrighteous are drifting back and forth in double-mindedness. They have no moral compass, and become unwanted by the righteous. These walk in shame and eventual misery. They have no hiding place or shield in time of trouble. These are impatient and keep finding evil at every turn. They have an insatiable appetites for self-satisfaction that drifts from the laws, commandments, statutes, precepts, and testimonies of the LORD God. They use deceit to advantage, which in the end becomes useless. The wicked will be removed from the earth “like dross.” They have no fear of God eventually leading to their doom of separation from His lovingkindness.

-*Ayin Application* Doing justice and righteousness leaves one with the confidence that God will not abandon in the time of oppression. The LORD is our surety (‘arab- pledge) for good and protection. Through His Word we eventually will see our salvation brought to bear by our continual and abiding faith. By believing, we know He will deal with us, His servants, with lovingkindness, giving us the understanding we will need to overcome those who wage spiritual war against us (2 Chronicles 32:8, Nehemiah 4:14, Ephesians 6:12). God will act of our behalf. Hate every false way brothers and sisters in Christ, but continue in agape.
