Bible Study Notes in Ezekiel- Chapter 35

Ezekiel 35

-A prophecy against Mt. Seir (or Edom, southeast of the Dead Sea region) is given to Ezekiel in this scathing chapter. They will be laid waste in desolation because they loved bloodshed and everlasting enmity with Israel thinking that they would overtake the two nations (Judah and the Northern Kingdom of Israel) to make them their own inheritance. Indeed, God will stretch out His Hand against Mt. Seir (Edom) so that they will KNOW that He is the LORD. They will be desolated forever with no habitation (Ezekiel 35:9). Their hatred and arrogance will become their ruin as the LORD makes Himself KNOWN to them with verosocity. He no doubt has heard all they have said and thought as they rejoiced over Israel’s fall and destruction. Therefore, the LORD will dismantle them, all of them, so that all will KNOW that He is the only true God, and besides Him there is no other (Ezekiel 35:1-15).

-*Application* Those who live by the sword will die by the sword (Matthew 26:52). Peace is achieved when we bless those who have done us wrong. Overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). God will bless you if you bless His people (Genesis 12:3). Beat down those while they are being punished by the LORD, and you will soon receive His wrath as well. Remain humble and resist arrogance or deceitful scheming. Let the LORD have His way in your life and live well. These are but a few of the lessons we can learn from this chapter of warning.
